Well it's safe to say I'm no good at blogging. I think it's an insecurity thing. I'm afraid no one will read it and if they do they'll think I'm totally lame. I don't want to write about what I did today or this week, unless it's significant, cause seriously reading about what people ate for lunch or watched on tv is seriously boring. Speaking of, there's a new episode of 30 Rock on tonight. Watching the first season of that show collectively on dvd made me want to work and write for a show on NBC. I get way too involved in shows if I watch them on dvd. I think the characters are my friends or family. Well I guess I'm doing exactly what I didn't want to do. I'll Stop.

Well I would like to say that I love my job and feel very blessed. I am the Central Territory Sponsorship and Mission Support Coordinator, if anyone wondered, if anyone is reading this. Sometimes I feel like maybe I'm no good at it, I can't keep up with the workload and many times wonder what others think of me in the position. But I love the mission of the position and brainstorming new ways to spread awareness about overseas home and school sponsorship. I'm trying to plan ways to get the information out to the territory and more importantly trying to spread the fire of care and concern for this world, get people (myself included) to live and think outside their own lives and "worlds". Don't worry I'm not fishing for affirmation, I'm expressing my thoughts and feelings, that's what blogs are for, right?

I also feel the need to share a bit about how much I learned through this Christmas season. I drove the Salvation Army bellringers for my church from the week before Thanksgiving until the week before Christmas. Three days a week I picked the bellringers up at the end of the night from their spot (Walgreens, Wal-mart, Jewel etc) took them to the corps and then drove them to their shelter. Nearly every paid bellringer is homeless, this is the only job they have all year. During those van rides I heard crazzzy stories, heart-breaking stories, really really funny stories, laughed til I nearly cried, almost cried out of frustration and all around learned a tremedous amount. I can't exactly pin point where I learned the most, you know, about myself, or about homelessness, about human natural, I'm just not sure where I learned the most. I do feel like I'm looking at things differently, I'm thinking through things and about issues in a new way. I miss the friends I made, pray for them, pray things turn around, their situation, their lifstyle, the misfortune they're facing.

I love what I'm being taught.

peace,

Sarah

God is Good

I'm going to South Africa this summer.  I'm too amazed.  I hardly know what to stay.  I can say I'm thrilled to see what the Lord wants us to do, I pray that we will we step up as a team and be united in his name.

Madame Speaker of the House

Did anyone else have tears in their eyes last night at the beginning of the State of the Union address when the President called attention to the new MADAME Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi??? I did not expect to become emotional, but a female in that position is an awesome thing.

I thought I'll Fight Day was pretty successful. OBT broke into four service groups: serving the kettlers, collecting grocery store carts (a job I had for two months my sophomore of high school!), giving out quarters at laundry mats and clearing tables at the mall food court. Although we didn't get to serve for that long, maybe it was for some people, but I'm used to working for 8 or more hours so it didn't seem very long to me, I thought it went well. I got to go to the mall, and people seemed confused at first when asked if we could take their trays, but then pleasantly surprised, still confused but normally gracious.

I'm going to try and load some pics later. it's not working for me right now. and I need to get back to homework.

Merry Christmas.

Sarah
